PHIMOSIS TREATMENT

Phimosis is a condition where the foreskin cannot be pulled back from the area around the tip of the penis. Boys who aren't circumcised as infants frequently have a tight foreskin, but by the age of three, it usually stops being an issue. Phimosis may develop spontaneously or as a result of scarring. Unless phimosis makes urinating difficult or causes other symptoms, young boys may not need treatment. Treatment may become more necessary as these boys mature. Phimosis can happen in the wild. Why it happens in some boys but not others are unknown. The foreskin can also become damaged if it is forced to retract before it is ready. This could harm the skin and leave scars, making it later on more challenging to retract the foreskin. Phimosis in boys or men can result from an infection or inflammation of the foreskin or the head of the penis (glans). Glans inflammation is referred to as balanitis. Sometimes it's the result of bad hygiene or a foreskin infection. Lichen sclerosis is one of the infections that can cause balanitis. It is a skin condition that could be brought on by a hormonal imbalance or an abnormal immune response. White spots or patches on the foreskin are possible symptoms. The skin might become scratchy and brittle. The diagnosis of phimosis or an underlying condition like balanitis can usually be made with the help of a physical examination and a review of your son's symptoms. Balanitis or other types of infections are typically treated by taking a foreskin swab to be examined in a lab. Antibiotics are necessary for bacterial infections, whereas antifungal ointments may be necessary for fungal infections. There may be a number of treatment options available if there is no infection or other disease-causing phimosis and it appears that the tight foreskin is just a normal development. Depending on how severe the condition is, daily gentle retraction might be sufficient to solve the issue. Foreskin softening and retraction facilitation can be accomplished with the aid of a topical steroid ointment. For a few weeks, the ointment is massaged twice daily into the region around the glans and foreskin. Circumcision or a comparable surgical procedure may be required in more severe circumstances. The entire foreskin is removed during circumcision. It is also possible to surgically remove a portion of the foreskin. Although circumcision is typically performed on infant boys, it can be done on any male, regardless of age. If your son frequently gets balanitis, urinary tract infections, or other infections, circumcision might also be required.
